Weekend Road Trip: Destination - Somewhere Outside of Nashville, TN!

Image
Bj and I enjoy our travel adventures together, even if it's for the day.  We had been talking of seeing one of his teacher friends for a while now and this is my year of quit talking about it and just do it.  So we quit talking about it and started actually planning the trip! This friend John taught with my husband at the alternative high school.  Both had challenging times there and both retired soon after.  Since John's retirement, we were noticing how much happier he was, how he was enjoying tending to his property and then to his girl's property.  He was loving his life.  So I was anxious to meet his girl, Luann.  She was God sent. We had originally planned to go the last week of August, but  we had a surprise visitor!  My step son.  He was able to stay for a week which was wonderful!  So we were able to re-schedule this trip for Labor Day weekend. We didn't want to impose too much on John & Luann's hospitality....

How to Sleep Like a Bear!

This is my hubby, Bj... last year on a brief road trip to Gatlinburg!  😀 He amazes me! He is always eager to take me on a spontaneous trip, even for just the day, no matter how he feels.  Up until this past year, he has always worked multiple jobs and all of this with hardly any rest.  ☹ Bj hadn't slept in years due to an arthritic back and restless legs. When we got married a little over 5 years ago, I started to not sleep as I'm a very light sleeper and was awakened every tim e he moved or got up due to his discomfort.  ☹ While I was home for a month with the flu in February, I started researching for a natural but powerful supplement to help him. I found the purest CBD Oil on the market! Radical move by us, but we were desperately exhausted and I was now sicker than I'd ever been and was for months! . The first night he started his drops... SLEEP!! For several hours!! By the 3rd night, SLEEP! ALL NIGHT!! Like a bear in hibernation, sleep...

Life Happens... So Why Not Make It An Adventure!

Image
Well... 2 years ago, I started this blog because honey and I were enjoying our travel adventures in life together.  They may have seemed like simple trips to some, but they were adventures to us.  I wanted to document for us but also to promote how wonderful our little part of the world is! Not long after my last post where we camped in Hiawassee... Life got busy, work got crazy, I started a health decline from burnout, and eventually my health took an actual turn in late January and I've still been trying to recuperate!  All that to say... we've taken a few adventures since then, but it was all I could do to actually take the trip but writing about it afterward just didn't happen.  I also lost some actual drafts and photos with a blog platform change so the discouragement of that was like... blah blah blah... Anyway... honey and I are not able to adventure away as much as we'd like to, but that doesn't mean life can't still be an adventure together. I h...

Sunday We woke up when it was pretty dark out still, so we tried to wait out some light before doing our coffee thing.  We then realized it was pretty cloudy and light might be a while.    We took our time making coffee and sipped it at the table.  PB&J breakfast came soon after.  I love coffee More time for reading??   Baby hoping our camping neighbors would get up soon. Baby gave up and went back to bed! Well actually, even though it was pretty cloudy, we did take a little while for reading before we started packing up.   Packing up!  What a job and unfortunately Bj did most of this himself.  I was winding down my 5th week on steroids and was feeling really puny and dizzy.  I'm guessing that's what made me feel yucky.   I helped as I could and then Bj sent me up to hang out with Becky and Rex while he finished up. Becky and Rex were planning on leaving Tuesday for Florida.  I wanted t...

What Does a Canteen, a Chainsaw, and a Campfire Have in Common?

Saturday Morning Song!!! We got up out of the tent when it was just starting to get light.  Our RV neighbors were still sleeping, so we decided to enjoy the quiet morning to have some coffee and get some reading in.  After all, we were up there to relax, right?  Especially after all that hard work Bj put in setting up our tent.  Poor baby. We are coffee drinkers so we did bring some  instant coffee  to make.  However, somehow we managed to only bring 1 coffee cup!  Bj DID happen to bring a small water canteen though, so that's what he drank his coffee out of.  Ha ha!   The lone coffee cup Bj's canteen o' coffee The coffee packets were pretty convenient and not too bad, but I might look into a camping coffee pot to make fresh brewed the next time.  This time we used this great burner ( similar to this ) that Bj purchased when he picked up our little odds and ends on Friday morning.  We already had purchas...
