North Georgia Life - Ellijay

Have I mentioned that we love where we live?!?  We are super close to so many awesome places in North Georgia that day trips are a fun part of our lives!

We are on vacation this week, so it was a given to take at least 1 day trip.  We decided on Ellijay for this week's day trip.  We had toyed with the idea of then heading over to Chattanooga for the remainder of the day, so I asked if I should pack an overnight bag, just in case.  Baby dog sitting was already arranged compliments of my sweet girl.  So I packed a very light overnight bag (forgetting a few things as always) and off we went.

We traveled through Dahlonega, then on west to places that I have no idea of where we were.  We drove through apple orchard land after seeing lots of trees and then we finally arrived in Ellijay.

After finding a place to park (free parking I might add!), we ventured over to our first antique store.  We enjoyed not only the vendor's displays, but we adored the building!  Also, the lady that was minding the store was super sweet and helpful.  We asked what time she closed as we wanted to pick up 2 items before we left town.  PS... they close at 5pm.

We noticed there was another antique shop in a barn out back behind this shop, but we decided to hit it on our way back to the car.  I was more leaning towards lunch.  We ended up at Corner Stone Cafe.  We were a bit hesitant at first because it was lunch time and the place wasn't busy.  But after we sat down, the service was super friendly and we felt that most of the folks in there were local.  To us, that's a 2 thumbs up on a restaurant in a tourist location.  We were right.  It was great!  I highly recommend, for a sandwich shop, and we'll definitely go back.

After lunch we began hitting all of the antique stores on the way back to the shop in the barn and then pick up the 2 items we wanted.  Ellijay is antiquing heaven.  If you love to browse antique shops and hit up a few boutiques and hand mades shops, this place is for you.  Also the antique shops seem to be an eclectic sampling of not only vintage items, but unique home decor, handmade soaps, candles, jewelry, etc.  We truly enjoyed each location's architecture as well.

We would have loved to have spent more time browsing Ellijay, but alas, the Georgia summer heat was oppressive and Chattanooga was calling our names.

Thank you to all of those in the shops for making us feel welcome to your town.  We'll be back!
